My sketchblog, detailing projects, any merchandise I make, comic work, projects, cute things, etc.
At times, this blog is NSFW, and contains a fair amount of lgbt things. And gushing.
Ugh I have cleaning to do.
What have I done with my life lately…
Needs more minecraft in it, methinks. But I should be practicing art! I should be…
Or sewing cute lolita clothing things…
or out drinking and partying (yeah right).
Tumblr and pinterest. You take up all of my time. Why.
Shut the fuck up about vaccinations. Not everyone has to have them, not everyone believes in them. Uneducated fuck.
You know, my homie and secret best friend Neil deGrasse Tyson said it best….
This isn’t an issue of belief or should even be up for discussion. It’s not a debate- like gravity or that the Earth revolves around the Sun isn’t up for debate. It’s a fact, whether or not you like it. Sorry bro.
And any ‘educated fuck’ knows that vaccines are necessary and everyone who can have them should have them.
Have a lovely day, sugar.
Actually there’s a lot of research and knowledge supporting the fact that vaccines are NOT necessary. It is simply another thing that today’s health system is super big on, just like hospital births and c-sections. And a lot of people actually have long term and short term complications from getting vaccines. Ahem.
Dang guys, you thought I didn’t check my activity log every now and then? Because I knew shit like this would pop up. And, I just finished my block exam and am feeling fiesty.
Actually you’re wrong. That ‘research’ is either completely fabricated OR grossly misinterprets the data OR uses shitty research techniques to get the data they want- all which are grossly unethical, in case you’re curious. I’ve got slides from a recent lecture on vaccines (aka why I am so fired up about this nonsense). You can check out the citations on each slide if you don’t believe me… something unsurprisingly missing from literally every anti-vaccine comment I’ve gotten and website that I have visited. Show me your sources, honey, and if you do, I will blow them out of the water because not a single one stands up to current scientific research standards.
There are however tomes and tomes of research for the safety end efficacy of vaccines. Don’t believe me? Look at a simple google scholar search.
So! Here we go!
Holy shit, it’s almost like vaccines SAVE SOCIETY MONEY. In fact, they give money back to society, along with the other programs indicated by red arrows. Which would be really weird for something that is just a healthcare fad like c-sections and hospital births.
And most people have no complications for getting vaccines, and if they do, most of them are short term. In fact, it is devilishly hard to prove an adverse effect was because of a vaccine. Why? Because it’s how we’re wired. We falsely see connections and causes where there are none (called a type 1 error; you are rejecting a true null hypothesis). People are more likely to attribute an adverse health event to a shot- even if that shot is the placebo and the numbers are just the background rate for whatever health event in the population.
And here is a graph showing the sample sizes necessary to prove that an adverse event is caused or related to a vaccine.
You know what, it was a really good lecture and I’m going to share more more relevant slides in case any one else feels like contradicting me.
These slides show the public health impact of vaccines. Note the differences between the historical peak and post-vaccine era deaths columns. Because saving literally thousands of lives is totally a conspiracy you should beware of.
And this is why herd immunity is so important! See how high it has to be for measles? Guess what we’re seeing outbreaks of thanks to anti-vaxxers? Don’t forget that one of the deadly complications of measles is SSPE.
Look how Hepatitis A infections in older adults when down after kids started getting immunized. Shocking! Could vaccines be… good for …. everyone????
The problem with refusing to vaccinate is that it doesn’t JUST affect you, it affects everyone you come into contact with. Every elderly person, everyone with a compromised immune system, kids too young to get vaccinated. They are vulnerable and by choosing not to vaccinate yourself or your kids, you ARE putting them at risk.
And for absolutely NO reason. Don’t do this, folks. Humans are collectively stupid, but individually, I know you have brains. Use them.
Dat one person who got Congenital Rubella from 2004-2006.
That is quite unfortunate…
Didn’t die, but still.
Much reblog. Vaccines save lives, and a lot of healthcare dollars and time for individuals and organizations and populations.
To put this in perspective, here are more of the larger categories of people killed, tortured, sterilized or otherwise harshly persecuted in the Holocaust.
Did some quick online research, paraphrased as notes, numbers aren’t listed but each victim and group is important.
"11 million people were killed during nazi reign over germany. 5 million non jewish victims.
Reasons: Political dissidents, the disabled (considered subhuman), racial (considered subhuman)
General groups: Jewish, Romani (Gypsies), Polish, Ukranians and people of other slavic countries, Jehova’s Witnesses, some catholics, some protestants, smaller faith groups such as Bah’ai (Nazi’s created their own state church, Reich Church), Political dissidents and clergy, homosexuals, transgender people, mixed race children (such as german x african children), interracial couples (again, white x african), miscellaneous “other” people that were considered unfit for society, such as prostitutes and drifters.
Basically anyone who didn’t belong to the “master” race and didn’t fit their criteria of personhood or humanity.”
Back to the original topic: Gays, transgender, and lesbians definitely were persecuted. Prior to WW2, in Berlin, homosexuality was generally tolerated, as much as it could have been in the 1920s western world. There were places for gays to openly meet, homosexuality was the topic of books, magazine articles, and movies. Hitler even raked the ranks of his army and officers for homosexuals and threw them into prison or sentenced them.
“According to many survivor accounts, homosexuals were among the most abused groups in the camps…. Guards ridiculed and beat homosexual prisoners upon arrival, often separating them from other inmates. Rudolf Hoess, commandant of Auschwitz, wrote in his memoirs that homosexuals were segregated in order to prevent homosexuality from spreading to other inmates and guards." (Persecution of homosexuals in the third reich, US Holocaust Memorial Museum Encyclopedia.) According to this same page, homosexuals were often abused physically and sexually by other inmates and guards, sterilized, castrated, and killed whenever guards or officials felt like doing so.
I wonder if the idea that ‘homosexuality is a disease that can spread’ came from Nazi ideals of this period. This idea is often cited by anti-gay advocates today.
In response to holocaust deny-ers: detailed records of victims and survivors and accounts were taken during this time period. There is no excuse.
Again, this is not to diminish other victims and survivors, but to share my findings as to what happened to this specific group during the Holocaust.
It is important to spread as much information about our past so this stuff NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN in any other shape or form.
… Actually I kinda wanna sew this now.
It is like… the simplest dress ever…
So cuuute coordinate!
Classic lolita is so awesome.
Extra points for pearls and old lace.
This reminds me that I need to make a bodice sloper so I can actually make more accurate bodices. Drafting patterns is tedious…
Im pretty sad that harley and ivy arent canon lesbians for eachother i mean cOME ON

YOU FORGOT HARLEY’S REACTION TO THAT, ASKING IF SHE MEANS LIKE HOW PEOPLE SAY BATGIRL AND SUPERGIRL ARE FRIENDS

University Cafe Chairs
Kinda based off this image here.
I really need to practice my 3d work in order to get job so… yeah…
Still working on painting stuff though.
I’ve seen a few fashion posts trying to expand the “Marie Antoinette is not Victorian” rant, but this stuff can get complicated, so here is a semi-comprehensive list so everyone knows exactly when all of these eras were.
Please note that this is very basic and that there are sometimes subcategories (especially in the 17th century, Jacobean, Restoration, etc)
And people wonder WHY I complain about History/Art History periodization. Note how much overlap there is to the above “eras”, and how many exceptions and extensions there are to these categories.
Oh, and by the way…
Because you wouldn’t want to be historically inaccurate.
Holy shi—the middle lady in the Victorian pic looks like my godmum! And the lady, on the right, in the Edwardian one looks almost like she could pass as one of my relatives!
…this is so eerie…but cool.
^^And that’s a big part of the reason why I do this. Everyone should be able to see images like these and feel like they, too, are a part of history.
People can quibble about minutiae as much as they’d like, and I honestly don’t mind the discussion, but when it comes down to it, medievalpoc is really about making an immediate visual impact that has changed how I view history, and I hope the same can be said for people who read these posts.
Also; Pointing out this post when fools say that people of color didn’t exist in these time periods or don’t belong in these time periods, and therefore don’t belong in media made from these time periods.
People saying simply desire to erase that narrative.
